Chief Medical Officer and Founding CEO for Open House Initiative and Open House Femina Health.

Dr. Ntlotleng Mabena is a public health clinician, an academic and a women’s health and rights advocate.  She was born and raised in Mamelodi.

Dr. Mabena’s passion lies in working with marginalized women, and making sure that all women, especially those at the margins of society, have access to quality primary health care services.

In addition to her Medical Degree (MBcHB) (UP), she also holds a Masters in Public Health (MPH) degree (UP), Diploma in HIV Management (CMSA), Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (UP), Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Forensic Medicine (UFS) and a Graduate Certificate in LGBT Health Policy and Practice from George Washington University, USA.

Dr. Mabena currently works with NACOSA, as the GBV Technical Specialist, ensuring that the health system, including health care workers are appropriately capacitated to be able to manage all survivors of GBV with dignity and compassion.

Dr Mabena describes herself as an inter-sectionalist, working to transform people from where they are currently at, and to spark the desire of identifying this true purpose, and follow that dream. She also describes herself as a wholistic transformational worker, working to help people heal themselves from the various wounds that are carried by individuals.

Her methods are completely inspired by her intuition, while applying her scientific and medical background to help people find liberation from themselves, and including alternative interventions where necessary.
