An aspiring story of Dr Annah Sefolosha

Dr. Annah Sefolosha, Director of the Directorate of Health and Wellness at TUT and National Treasurer of SAACHS,  has had an inspiring career journey.

Her journey is a testament to resilience, perseverance, and dedication to healthcare and education. Born in Mamelodi she overcame numerous challenges, including financial struggles and social unrest, to build an inspiring career in nursing and public health. From her early academic excellence to her leadership roles in student wellness, her story reflects a commitment to continuous learning and community impact.

Dr. Sefolosha began her education during the 1976 riots and faced setbacks due to civil unrest, but her determination saw her excel academically. Despite financial constraints, she pursued nursing, later earning multiple degrees with distinction, including a PhD in Nursing Science. She transitioned from hospital work to occupational health and is currentlyDirector of the Directorate of Health and Wellness at Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). Her research has focused on diversity in nursing teams and inclusive healthcare for LGBTQ+ communities.

Throughout her career, Annah has championed student health initiatives, improved campus wellness facilities, and played a critical role in TUT’s COVID-19 response. As Director of Health and Wellness, she continues to advocate for holistic well-being and academic success among students. Dr. Sefolosha encourages young people to prioritize their education, choose supportive friendships, and take control of their futures.
