SAACHS Welcomes Its New National Executive Committee

The South African Association of Campus Health Services (SAACHS) proudly announces the election of its new National Executive Committee (NEC) at the 47th Annual General Meeting, held on 7 January 2026 in Gqeberha.

Elected by members in good standing, the new NEC represents a strong blend of experience, continuity, and fresh leadership drawn from campus health services across South Africa.

The newly elected NEC

  • Chairperson: Nomusa Mkhwanazi — HOD: Campus Health Service, Mangosuthu University of Technology
  • Deputy Chairperson: Tshidiso Ntshabele — HOD: Campus Health and Wellness, University of the Witwatersrand
  • Secretary: Olebogeng Moshwene — Nurse Practitioner, University of Johannesburg
  • Deputy Secretary: Nokuthula Ndou — Social Worker, University of Limpopo
  • Treasurer: Molimi Miemie Geya — Director: Student Health & Wellness, University of Johannesburg
  • Editor-in-Chief: Mahlodi Maphakela  — Clinical Nurse Practitioner, University of Limpopo

Several appointments reflect well-considered leadership succession. Molimi Miemie Geya, Immediate Past Chairperson, assumes the role of Treasurer. Mahlodi Maphakela transitions from Secretary to Editor-in-Chief, while Tshidiso Ntshabele moves from Editor-in-Chief to Deputy Chairperson.

Celebrating a transformative term

The outgoing NEC concludes its term having delivered one of the most consequential periods in the Association’s history. Achievements include securing SAACHS’s registration as a Non-Profit Organisation, strengthening financial governance and compliance, revitalising regional committees, expanding professional education through hybrid learning and webinars, and asserting SAACHS’s national voice through advocacy for the recognition of campus clinics as essential services.

The NEC also professionalised the Annual Conference, strengthened stakeholder partnerships, and positioned SAACHS for increased collaboration and funding support—marking a decisive step forward in credibility, sustainability, and sector impact.

Acknowledging service and leadership

SAACHS extends sincere thanks to Dr Matsontso Mathebula, retiring Deputy Chairperson, and Dr Annah Sefolosha, retiring Treasurer, for their dedicated service and leadership. Their contributions were instrumental in shaping a stronger and more resilient Association.

In her closing remarks, outgoing Chairperson Molimi (Miemie) Geya thanked the NEC, regional leadership, and SAACHS members for their confidence, engagement, and commitment, noting that the future of SAACHS is firmly grounded and full of promise.

SAACHS congratulates the incoming NEC and looks forward to the next chapter of growth, advocacy, and excellence in campus health services.
