Thembisile Mboniswa is a Registered Nurse with extensive experience across clinical practice, nursing education, training coordination and programme management within the public health sector. She has pursued advanced qualifications in Community Nursing Science through Rand Afrikaans University, a Bachelor of Nursing Science (Education and Administration) from Potchefstroom University, and a Postgraduate Diploma in HIV/AIDS Management from Stellenbosch University.
She currently serves as the PEP and PrEP Programme Manager at the Eastern Cape Department of Health Provincial Office in Bhisho. In this role, she is responsible for the oversight and coordination of Thuthuzela Care Centres (TCCs) across the Eastern Cape, supporting integrated services for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and strengthening HIV prevention and post-exposure interventions.
Ms Mboniswa’s professional background includes clinical service at Glen Grey Hospital in Lady Frere, where her strong commitment to skills transfer led to her placement in the clinical department as a nurse preceptor responsible for student nurse accompaniment. She later served as Zonal Matron at Stutterheim Hospital, providing operational and supervisory leadership. Her experience further extends to health education and workforce development through her role as Training Coordinator at the Eastern Cape Regional Training Centre in partnership with Walter Sisulu University.
Her career reflects a consistent focus on capacity building, quality patient care, and the development of resilient health systems through education, mentorship and effective programme implementation.
