Dr Simangele Sitoe

Dr Simangele Lettie Sitoe is a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Specialist with a PhD in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing Science from the University of Johannesburg. She currently serves as the first Psychiatric Nurse Specialist at the University of the Witwatersrand, where she provides mental health services to students, engages in collaborative research, and supports mental health policy development and advocacy. Her research interests include student mental health, substance use, and the integration of mental healthcare in higher education.
She has worked across public, private, and academic mental health sectors and has been instrumental in pioneering mental health service models within the university context in Gauteng. Dr Sitoe is actively publishing her research and regularly presents at academic and professional forums.
She is passionate about youth mental health and is committed to advancing access to care and improving outcomes in academic settings.
