Nothando Hlophe
Head of Social Support, University of the Free State

I have eight (8) years of working experience in Higher Education with project management, community engagement, governance, academia, social support, and administration. I am currently working in the Social Support Office and a Chief Administrative Officer at the South African Association of Student Affairs Professionals (SAASSAP). My interdisciplinary working experience spreads across Student Affairs, the Center for Teaching and Learning, Directorate for Institutional Research and Academic Planning, Humanities Faculty, and community-based organisations.

I have completed my BA Honours and a BA Degree in Humanities at the University of the Free State. I also recently completed an MA in Sociology titled 'Leadership and Inter-organisational Collaboration of Student Political Associations at a South African University.'

Beyond my work experience and academic background, I am an active social justice activist. I am the Co-Founder and Board Secretary for Ikusasa Decolonisation Libraries, an organisation that institutes libraries in quintile one-three primary schools with African literature. I am also the former Interim Board Secretary for Phenomenal Women SA Youth Chapter, an organisation that sets to develop young women in business.

I am a social scientist, social entrepreneur, and activist at heart. The organisations I align myself with, always speak to the development of young people and how change can be administrated in our communities.
