Dr. Annah Sefolosha is a distinguished nursing professional and academic leader with a career spanning over three decades. She began her nursing journey in 1989, earning a four-year diploma with Cum Laude in 1993 at Lebone College of Nursing. Her professional career commenced at Mamelodi Hospital, where she rose to the rank of Chief Professional Nurse in the Maternity Ward.

Dr. Sefolosha holds advanced qualifications in Nursing Dynamics, Occupational Health (Cum Laude), and a Bachelor of Nursing (Cum Laude), specialising in Education and Management.

In 2001, Dr. Sefolosha transitioned to occupational health nursing in the motor industry before joining Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) in 2003 as a campus nurse. She completed a Master’s degree in Nursing (Management) Cum Laude in 2008 and participated in an exchange program in Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden, Europe to study health care systems.

Promoted to Head of Department at TUT, she oversaw health promotion and primary health services across multiple campuses while earning certifications in HIV/AIDS treatment.

In 2018, Dr. Sefolosha earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Pretoria, focusing on LGBTQ+ Sexual Minority Groups. Her research, published in the International Journal of Homosexuality, has received both national and international recognition.

As Director of the Directorate of Health and Wellness since 2022, she leads health initiatives, partnerships, and resources, notably guiding TUT’s COVID-19 response.

Beyond her leadership roles, Dr. Sefolosha is a research associate at the University of Pretoria, supervises postgraduate students, and peer-reviews for international journals. She actively participates in professional organisations, including the Tshwane District Health Council, Gauteng Nursing Research Committee and SAACHS, contributing to the advancement of health care and nursing research.
